I just got home from seeing The Hunger Games: Catching Fire and really really liked it. I read the first book before I saw the first movie and it was an enjoyable experience overall. However, I am only about 6 chapters in to Catching Fire at the moment. I decided I would experience the movie on its own without having read the book just to see how it felt. I am so glad that I did. I loved not knowing what was going to happen in the arena and was blown away by what Katniss did towards the end! So brilliant! Obviously, I won’t spoil it.
Also I LOVE Mags so much. She’s played by Lynn Cohen who also was Miranda’s nanny on Sex and the City! Having an older woman as a tribute was such a great way to show the brutality of what The Hunger Games and The Quarter Quell was all about. She really pulled at my heartstrings.
I also live for Johanna played by the all-grown-up Jena Malone!
Anyway, if you haven’t seen this movie go see it! See the first one, then see this one. It’s so worth it!
…I think so.
Tonight I went to see Scream 4 (or SCRE4M) with Danny, Josh and Jackie, and I have to say that it is definitely the best of the 4 movies! I mean Scream 1 is definitely a classic now, and though it’s fantastic, it didn’t give me the same thrill that this one did. Scream 2 was alright and Scream 3 was just downright ridiculous. I bought the first 3 on DVD 2 nights ago and watched them with Danny and Kristin. I had already seen them, but I think I blocked 3 out because it was so terrible. (I thought that at the end of Scream 3 we’d find out that the entire movie was them filming Stab 2…that’s how bad it is).
I absolutely HATE scary movies. However, Scream reminds me of my childhood (I was in elementary and middle school when they came out). So there is a huge sense of nostalgia when it comes to one miss Sidney Prescott.
So here are my thoughts on Scream 4 and THERE ARE SPOILERS AHEAD. So if you DO NOT want to be spoiled STOP READING NOW.
The opening. David Arquette has been on Howard Stern all week and said that the opening to Scream 4 is the best of them all. I have to beg to differ. In fact, it’s my least favorite of them all. I am SO sick of the Stab series. We get it…there’s a parallel frame within a frame structure. No need to keep up with the Stab stuff. It gets really tired. The audience flipped and loved the beginning in the theater I was in, but my friends and I just kind of blankly stared at each other.
The story. The story was sooooooooo good. Around halfway through the movie I thought that Jill’s mom (Sidney’s aunt) was the killer. In one of her last scenes, she comes in to the kitchen with groceries from the right, and then tells Sidney she was going to get more, and then leaves the kitchen going left. I had this whole idea that Jill’s Mom was the killer because Sidney lived and Maureen (Sidney’s Mom) didn’t. Cut to: 2 minutes later she’s dead.
The ending. O. M. G. I had a hunch that one of the 2 film dudes was a killer but definitely not both (would have been too predictable). I wish they would have used that streaming web camera thingy a little more effectively though. I thought that Judy and Trevor were also way too predictable. After my Jill’s Mom theory was crushed I really wasn’t sure who it could be, and just let the story unfold. Then once it was revealed that Jill and Kevin McCallister’s little brother were the killers I was like “DUH!!!” How CRAZZZY is Jill by the way? The entire scene in the hospital was just awesome. It kept me on the edge of my seat, and was an awesome climactic ending to the movie. After Gale said “Clear” I was punching the sky and clapping along with every single other person in the audience.
I can’t wait for Scream 5, which after what I am sure will be a huge blockbuster opening this weekend, will be in production very soon! Definitely check this movie out if you’re in to Scream or scary movies.
two 5 cents:
- Rolfe Norman and I agree that there should have been more chase scenes. None of the characters put up much of a fight.
- When will Sidney get to a self-defense class? Hasn’t she seen Enough?
- Though the Sidney/Gale backstory was sort of explained when Sidney was on the talk show, I was still needing more backstory on them.
- Gale’s character has hit her crescendo. Every single line as well as the way the character worked within the story was PERFECT! “By the way your lemon squares taste like ass.”
- Really? You just got stabbed in the brain, and you’re gonna make a joke as you die? *ROLLLLLLSSSSS EYESSSSSSS*

I’m in NYC until Monday. I’m bad at blogging when I am here for some reason, even though there is so much to write about. Danny and I got VIP Floor for Lady Gaga’s Madison Square Garden show in NYC, where she was filming for her HBO special. Also, Paul McCartney was 50 feet away from me the entire time…dancing and singing along.
Sir Paul McCartney 50 feet away. He danced and applauded Gaga all night.
I posted all about it on my Gaga site LadyGagaLive.net.
I don’t know who is watching out for me but thank you for the amazing life that I live.
I finally broke down and got a Netflix account (mainly just so I could watch this documentary) and I really think that you should stop everything you’re doing and watch Joan Rivers: A Piece of Work.
Seriously, it’s very important for our friendship. She’s coming to WVU in May and I’m reallllllllllly excited about it.
First, we get the first look at the cast of X-Men: First Class yesterday, and now today Warner Bros. has announced that Anne Hathaway will be playing Selina Kyle aka Catwoman and Tom Hardy will play Bane in the upcoming The Dark Knight Rises. The movie, which is the third and final one of the franchise, is scheduled to release on July 20, 2012.
These are two of my favorite actors right now, so this news went over VERY well with me! I can’t say I’ve always followed either of them, but I thoroughly enjoy both of them whnever they are on a screen in front of me, I’ve noticed.
I can’t wait to see Bane’s costume (and Catwoman’s for that matter). What do you think of the choices?
Comicbookmovie.com just posted this first cast picture from the upcoming X-Men: First Class. I don’t think that it’s an official picture but it gives us a first look at what we can expect, original comic book garb and all!
