I think they may have.
Recently, Google released a little video showcasing some of the features that are coming up on the Google TV.
Google TV, designed to open up the internet on your television, was first touted as an integrated (and box top) feature that would allow you to surf the web on your TV, record programs, and interact with your living room in really unique ways.
What they didn’t say was that you could use it to watch Netflix, Amazon On Demand, update your Twitter, and stream your music from Pandora or Napster.
Initially, I didn’t think that Google TV and Apple TV were competitors – they both seemed to do very different things for very different reasons. But now with this video highlighting some of the features we can expect, it looks like Google not only beat Apple to the big screen TV, but surpassed them as well.
The best part of the video comes at the end when Google teases that there will soon be even more apps coming from the Android market! In an earlier post, I talked about the secret internal storage that Apple added to their latest Apple TV, and how I think it will have a lot to do with apps, but Apple hasn’t said a word or even hinted at the possibility of having apps on the Apple TV yet. It could be a very long time before we see anything on the Apple TV like we are seeing on iPhone and iPad.
I’d say Google beat Apple to the punch with this one. What do you think?
