Every once in a while a patent comes along from Apple that makes me think “Oh…that’s definitely going to happen.” That happened to me today when I saw the patent for what could eventually become the iMac touch.
The patent shows a normally functioning iMac in an upright position. However, when you recline the screen (as shown below) an accelerometer switches from Mac OS X in to iOS.
Much like the MacBook Air, iPad, and iPod nano patents I’ve seen in the past, I get the same feeling that we’re going to be seeing this product sometime in the very near future. WWDC is typically Mac oriented, but this year’s was SOLEY about iOS. Maybe they were saving the iMac news for September? We’ll see!
