MAJOR SPOILTER ALERT. IF YOU HAVE NOT SEEN THE EPISODE “Across the Sea” DO NOT READ ON.
So the third from last episode of Lost aired tonight, and it was very interesting to say the least. I don’t have tons to say about this episode, so I’ll make this one short and to the point.
First, I’m not sure anything was answered in this episode. Both Damon and Carlton (lead writers/producers) have said that this episode was going to be full of answers and that they were both very excited for it to air. Frankly, what was answered? All we got was more reason why Jacob and the Man in Black hate each other. That’s not necessarily an answer. Sadly, I don’t think we’re going to be finding out the types of things that we want by the time this show is over. At least, I won’t be.
Secondly, there wasn’t a single moment this episode where I was like, “Wow that makes total sense!” Maybe that’s a good thing heading in to the finale? But as each episode has gone on, we’ve goten farther and farther away from the reality of possibly understanding why and how things are going on on the island. Fans aren’t really loving this season.
Thirdly, the Adam and Eve revelation at the end of the episode was … kind of neat to know who they were, but is that really a huge deal? This is more for the satisfaction of some part-time Lost fans, or the ones who tuned in seasons 1-3, and then gave up. Knowing who Adam and Eve are has NOTHING to do with the current timeline on the island, so… what was the point?
The writing on this show is surprisingly getting worse as the season has gone on. I wish there was something about the episode that I liked, besides the fact that Allison Janney was in it, but there isn’t. Nothing made sense, and all it did was set up more back story than we need 2 episodes before the show ends.
I give this episode 4 stars out of 10. 2 of those are for Allison Janney.
ANOTHER SPOILER ALERT. DON’T CLICK PLAY IF YOU DON’T WANT FOOTAGE FROM NEXT WEEK.
Here’s Sneek Peak No.1 for next week’s episode “What They Died For.” Typically there are 2 for every week, so when the second one surfaces, I’ll post it too.
