I don’t know about you guys but I am really excited that the World Wide Developers Conference is less than a month away! I had been so wrapped up in finals, getting an apartment, getting my life in order that I didn’t take a second to realize that 3.0 is just around the corner.
I know a lot of people have had their hands on the beta version of this software. I had the opportunity to download it myself, but I decided not to. I want to wait and experience it with as little bugs and glitches as possible. Lord knows the current version has enough of that as it is.
One thing that I am greatly looking forward to is picture texting. I would imagine that the picture texting will be part of the unlimited data plan. Right? I have turned in to that person that gets picture texts of his nephew, but has to go to http://www.viewmymessage.com and type in a bunch of random passwords just to see the picture. How annoying is that!? iPhone users know what I’m talking about. This new feature will be greatly welcomed by all iPhone users.
The other feature I am looking forward to using is the copy and paste. Not really because I need copy and pasting a lot, but just to see how Apple manages to create a task with such the complexity of the touch screen user interface.
Not only am I excited about the software and all the fun features, but I think it’s safe to say a new iPhone is on the way. Apple has been moving more towards cycles now, rather than sporadic updating. They have stayed true to form with the iPhone – updating it every June so far.
Some hints with the 3.0 software suggest that Apple is going to have video technology with the newest iPhone hardware. I read somewhere that video isn’t as possible for the current iPhones because they run on NAND Flash memory which has issues with recording video at a consistent rate. Maybe we’ll see dual core processors in the next iPhone? It might be too soon to jump to that, but I would welcome it any day.
There are also rumors that along with video capabilities will be a built in iMovie application to shoot, edit, and upload video on the spot to your MobileMe, or YouTube. I have seen some rumors posted on some fan sites of some differences in the camera quality in upcoming versions, which I think would be highly essential for having video capabilities. I use my camera pretty often, but it’s definitely not a camera that I would use for important events. It usually consists of taking random pictures and uploading them to my TwitPic account.
I can’t wait to get my hands on 3.0 and possibly a new iPhone. I’ve only had my iPhone 3G since November, but am willing to upgrade for the new features. Well, who am I kidding, I will be in line the day they come out – but only because I haven’t stood in line for a new Apple product since Leopard came out!
iPhone 3.0 users, are you loving the beta?
