Why Do Britney Spears Fans Accept Her Mediocrity? March 27, 2011

Before I get all kinds of hate mail for this post, let me first tell you that I’m a fan of Britney Spears. ANYONE who grew up in the 90s/2000s pretty much is at this point. I think the point of this blog is to show that the entire pop music fandom is becoming a lot more astute to real talent, thus leaving a lip-syncing power-walking Britney Spears in the dust.
Today Britney taped a performance for Good Morning America, which will air on Tuesday. 99% of Britney fans think she WAS AMAZING TOO GOOD FOR WORDS, while 1% of us who remember who she used to be were left wondering why album after album, performance after performance, we get our hopes up only to be left deflated and underwhelmed. Why are Britney fans letting her off the hook for lackluster performing?! I honestly think that so many people are just so in love with Britney that they feel bad for her and don’t want to accept the fact that she’s the poor man’s Lady Gaga. People want to say Britney is the new Madonna but at least Madonna sang LIVE 99% of the time with a mediocre voice!
The performance wasn’t bad, but it wasn’t good. I’ve seen better on American Idol (not being sarcastic). She performed “Till The World Ends,” a hot club-thumper written by Kesha and basically synchronized some walks around the front of the stage, held on to a rope for a few seconds (?), and then walked up stairs and stood on a platform for the last 60 seconds of the song.
WHAT?
If you’re going to hype up a performance/album/song and say it will be a “morning to remember” we’re going to need a little more than standing around flailing your arms, Britney Lynne!
The best comparison I can make is when you look at her dancers and how much energy they put in to every single movement, and then look at Britney. It’s like black and white, night and day. There WAS a time where Britney was a dancer/singer. Now, she’s just walking around lip-synching. I miss old Britney!
P.S. Perez Hilton, one of Britney’s biggest fans ever, made a great point on his blog:
The Britney that used to be able to dance fiercely is no longer. We’re not exactly sure why she’s gone, but – like we’ve said before – we’d love to find out!
If Spears gave an interviewing blaming her knee surgery and multiple knee injuries, then we’d understand why her movement has been impaired and our expectations would be different/lower. Or, there’s also speculation that medication she may be on might be impeding her ability to dance.
My Letter to Hope College Dean of Students Richard Frost October 28, 2009

Not sure if you have heard this news, but I thought it might be worth mentioning.
The ‘Dean of Students’ at Hope College, Richard Frost, banned the “Milk” Academy Award-Winning screenwriter Dustin Lance Black from speaking to a screenwriting class because according to Frost, “from past experience, strongly-opinionated speakers usually don’t further academic discussions about gay, lesbian or transgender issues.”
So who is going to talk about these issues? Mousy, evangelical Christians?
In response to Dean Frost’s selfish, politically motivated banning, I wrote the following letter to him, and CC’ed the President of the College, as well as a man named Mr. Wolternik, whose title is “V.P. of College Advancement” in hopes that his authority and background in ‘advancing colleges’ would help keep Mr. Frost from making mistakes like these again.

Here’s the letter:
Mr. Frost,
Let me make this short and to the point. You banning an Academy Award winning screenwriter from a screenwriting class because of your personal, selfish views on one of the most pressing and engaging social issues of our time is not only sad, but is reason to call upon your resignation from the position of Dean of Students. You seem to be making careless decisions based on your old-fashioned, ignorant ideals and not Hope College students’ educations or their futures.
As a student at West Virginia University, I would be appalled if my Dean banned an industry expert to speak in my class, and frankly, you should be embarrassed by your decision. Thankfully, though, you are not my Dean.
I’ve CC’ed various members of the Hope College Administrative Council, including Mr. Scott Wolterink, the V.P. of College Advancement, who I hope will use his authority in “college advancement” to outline some of your mistakes with this decision.
Hopefully, in the future your mistakes and personal political agenda will not jeopardize the education or career opportunities of the student body at Hope College, as they have recently.

Could it be true!? According to Geri Halliwell, Ginger Spice, it very well could be true.
After Perez Hilton.com posted a picture of the Spice Girls (minus Victoria) together last week, Geri Halliwell appeared on a morning radio show and had this to say about the future of the Spice Girls:
“We always talk about creative plans. Whatever happens afterwards is a bonus. Right now, I’ll be honest: we are gathering information about a possibility…[but] when you are evolving a plan, you don’t want to share it with the world.”
Kind of vague, but considering Geri has nothing else going for her, of course she is out running her mouth, hoping it happens. She wants paid!
A second reunion tour should garner a new album of material, if you ask me. Are we going to see light-hearted, spunky, Spice Girls songs on the Billboard Hot 100 again? I hope so!

Perez Hilton posted this first, and I had to share it on my site. Beyonce sang a version of “Halo” to a little girl named Chelsea who is suffering from Lieukemia. When Chelsea, the little girl, leans her head on Beyonce’s I lost it.

Looks like my friend was right!
Back at the beginning of February a friend of mine said he heard through his friend that Zac dropped his Philadelphia engagements for 17 Again to host SNL on April 11. I posted it on my site and it got around the internets pretty quickly.
SNL has finally made this info public, and it’s true!
I wonder if the tweens are going to be staying up late. I hope SNL makes him funny. He needs something like this.

So earlier tonight Perez Hilton posted a “You Must…Click HERE!!!” link. I didn’t really think anything of it because he posts these all the time, but after clicking the link, it’s Courtney’s nephew Macello!
Courtney had been telling Ashleigh to send the video to Perez, and I guess she did, because without anyone letting me know I just stumbled across a kid I was playing with 2 weeks ago on the biggest gossip website in the world! I’ve embedded the video below! Macello’s a Star!!!!!!

I hate physical abuse, especially against women. It is something very personal and horrific for me. I don’t want to post Rihanna’s picture on here because it’s just a bit too much to take in, in all honesty.

Turns out all of the traffic on my website recently will put me at No.18 on WordPress’ Growing Blogs site as of tomorrow! I was on the Growing Blogs website once before at No.100 when all of Cumberland went up in flames over my personal opinion about an art show gallery.
But anyway, No. 18 is so much better than No. 100! That’s pretty big news, right? I mean how many damn blogs are out there?

So after talking to a friend last night about Zefron pulling out of his Philadelphia engagements to host SNL, and posting it online, it seems that the news has found its way around the interwebs.
