vert330_81awardsFirst of all let me start off by saying this year’s Oscars were the awesome and kept my attention throughout the entire thing, which couldn’t be said about previous Oscar shows. In fact, I think this might be the only one that I watched all the way through. That being said, it still felt like there was something missing. Hugh Jackman did an awesome job, but I think there were some things that just felt too rehearsed or something. I don’t know. I don’t want to make it sound like it was bad because it wasn’t at all.

Slumdog Millionaire. Well damn, I need to go see this movie now. I think it’s in one of the theatres here at school. I knew it was going to be received well but it swept almost all (if not all?) categories it was nominated in. I thought the music from Slumdog that they performed was awesome. It was such an ecclectic, worldly Oscars tonight, which is always a good thing. Some people didn’t like the music, but you can’t deny the artistry that was shining through so well.

Kate Winslet. She killed it tonight. Not only did she look absolutely amazing, but she was so humble and greatful for her Best Actress win. I didn’t see “The Reader” but just based on clips that I had seen could tell that it was an amazing movie. Kate Winslet had me interested every time I saw a clip.

Tina Fey. I know. She wasn’t even that big of a part of the show tonight but I am soooo happy to see her at the show looking AMAZING. She wins the Oscar for Best Dressed, for sure. I am so happy for Tina Fey. She went from a behind the scenes writer at SNL, to looking ridiculously amazing at the Oscars, entertainment’s biggest stage. I’ve been a huge Tina Fey fan since before she was even on Weekend Update, and I couldn’t be happier for her.

Hugh Jackman/Beyonce/Zac Efron. Uh…what? I know Beyonce was lip-synching..which really isn’t that big of a deal, but I am sure everyone will be absolutely aghast tomorrow when they write and report about the show. It didn’t help that that entire number was just bizarre anyway.

Sean Penn for the upset! I don’t think anyone ever knows who is going to win Best Actor and Best Actress. There is usually a favorite but the favorite doesn’t always win. I am so happy for Sean Penn. Again, I hadn’t had a chance to see Milk, but just his acceptance speech for gay rights, and Prop 8 was awesome and worth watching. Same goes for the screenwriter Dustin Lance Black, who is a gay Mormon! I can’t wait to look back at these clips in 10 years when gay couples are happily married all over the nation.

All in all I thought the Oscars was awesome and whoever was in charge of this production should be rehired next year. Congratulations to all the winners!
