WTF?

Dan Radfcliffe made one of the most awkward videos to promote the first part of the epic Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows.

And hey camera guy…notice anything not in balance…like THE BACKGROUND?

Today, Warner Brothers released the Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows one-sheet, and quite frankly it’s disturbing!!

How can they post a freaking picture of Hogwart’s in shambles before the movie even comes out!? As if this part of the book wasn’t already emotional enough, they go and release the visual!

Why don’t you just BURN MY HOUSE DOWN and put it on a poster! Geez!

Wow! A teaser was aired during tonight’s MTV Movie Awards, for the upcoming 2-part saga of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. It’s not very long, and frankly, I don’t really remember the book that well because it was mostly shit, so I don’t recognize the scenes that much. But this teaser still gives you a very exciting “Harry Potter movie” feel, like previous trailers from the previous 6 movies.

Check it out!

Bryan Singer Directing X-Men: First Class December 21, 2009

Bryan Singer was at the Avatar premiere last week and has apparently confirmed that he will be directing the next movie in the X-Men franchise, X-Men: First Class.

The new movie will focus on a new set of mutants in their teenage years, and according to produce Lauren Shuler-Donner, will have a feel much like the Harry Potter movies.

X-Men: First Class is also an 8-issue comic that first appeared back in 2006 and featured Angel, Beast, Cyclops, Iceman, Jean Grey, and Professor X. However, seeing that all of these characters have been introduced, killed, and reincarnated, I doubt the writers will want to keep them alive, even in their earlier years, with a prequel.

However, Bryan Singer also gave a really juicy quote regarding the plot and characters:

“[t]his is the formative years of Xavier and Magneto, and the formation of the school and where there relationship took a wrong turn … [t]here is a romantic element, and some of the mutants from ‘X-Men’ will figure into the plot, though I don’t want to say which ones. There will be a lot of new mutants and a great villain.”

I thought Bryan Singer was great, and really did a great job with X2: X-Men United. But when he gave up on X-Men: The Last Stand to do the shitty Superman Returns movie, I really was annoyed with him. Though I loved The Last Stand, Brett Ratner did a poor job with the movie overall. I hope Singer can step it up and deliver some awesome storyline with better effects.

My July Mood July 31, 2009

I gave up on Moods for a while because I wasn’t interesting enough, to be quite frank. I wasn’t filling them with interesting, worth-while information that I thought anyone would care about. However, after looking back at previous Moods from last year, there are already things I would have forgotten if I didn’t write about them — yet another reason for you to start a blog!

So I’m bringing Moods back starting with July!

Movies: Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince! I wrote a review of the movie, and my overall thoughts, but have kept it as a draft. I might publish it later, but overall I couldn’t write everything I wanted to in a short enough blog that anyone would find interesting. In short: amazing movie, but sad about some of the important scenes from the book that were left out.

DVD: Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix! – I watched the ending of this movie about 10 times before I went to see Half-Blood Prince. It’s the only DVD I have even had time to think about this month.

Music: Music is now changing to Top 5 Songs of the month due to the fact that I can never just pick one song or artist to represent an entire month. I was originally going to report my Top 5 songs according to my Last.fm, but now that I drive to and from work, I don’t scrobble all of my music. I’ve added a 6th song, which is the one that probably could have been No.5, but didn’t make the cut this month (See below).

Top 5 Songs of July:
1. Whitney Houston – “I Look To You”
2. Ingrid Michaelson – “Maybe”
3. Mariah Carey – “Obsessed”
4. Passion Pit – “Little Secrets”
5. Chester French – “She Loves Everybody”
6. Beyonce – “Halo”

TV Shows: Just recently bought a season pass for Kathy Griffin: My Life on the D-List, because it was only $15 on iTunes! Wowsers!

Game: I wish I had more time to play games, but probably my Wild Wild West pinball game on the iPhone. A lot of fun!

Book/Magazine: Is it bad that I am an English major and don’t read as much as I would like. This section of my blog is going to be the sole purpose in my reading a lot more. No books or magazines in July. (I work too much!)

Purchase: I’ve made a lot of awesome purchases lately. Most importantly: my iPhone 3Gs! So much faster, and the video quality is so much better than I expected. Last month I bought Sirius radio which has been amazing. Also, spent $2 on a laser pointer that has been a source of amusement and laughter for my family because Mick, our dog, just chases it around until he can’t stand up on his own 2 legs anymore.

Travel: Since I spent 5 days in New York City last month, and I work full time, I didn’t travel that much this month. I went to Brittney’s in Altoona 2 weekends ago, and that was about it. It was a lot of fun, but I expect a return to New York City in August when the U.S. Open starts!

Warner Brothers Tops $1 Billion July 20, 2009

warnerbrotherslogoOn Sunday, Warner Bros. Studios announced that it had just reached the $1 billion dollar mark in domestic gross sales.

Warner Bros. hit the mark after Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince took in $159.7 million in just 5 days. How crazy! Apparently, Half-Blood Prince has taken in half a billion in sales worldwide…in less than a week! Imagine what this movie is going to do when it’s out on DVD.

Warner Bros. also noted that it had reached the $1 billion dollar mark in 10 of the last 11 years, and that 7 of the studio’s films have lead weekends this year. One of those films was The Hangover, which is now the No.1 grossing R-rated film, taking in $235 million. The previous record for highest-grossing R-rated comedy was Beverly Hills Cop, which held the record for 25 years.

The recession isn’t keeping people from spending big bucks on entertainment, that’s for sure!

Harry_Potter_Halfblood_prince_(2008)Wow! July 15th really snuck up on me. I remember whining and complaining back in November that the release date for Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince had been moved to July, and here I am getting all excited about tonight’s midnight release.

I am still debating on whether or not I am going to the midnight release. I have a real job now, and have to wake up at 6a.m. every morning, and getting home at 3a.m. with my heart pounding from my reaction to the movie doesn’t look like a great forecast for my work day on Wednesday. However, there’s the fanboy inside of me that is screaming, “GO! ARE YOU SERIOUS!? WHY WOULD YOU LET CORPORATE AMERICA KEEP YOU FROM SOMETHING YOU LOVE!?” Either way, I will be seeing it Wednesday.

I’ll be back after the movie is over to give my 2 cents about the movie, what to think compared to the book, and looking ahead for Part 1 of Deathly Hallows which has already started filming.

Finding Hogwarts “Documentary” Trailer Released June 19, 2009

UPDATE: After various messages from people, I would like to point out that the sarcasm in this posting was paralleled by the assumed sarcasm of adults looking for a magical castle. Also pointed out is that The Leaky Cauldron is not behind this project, rather certain people from Leaky + others, which can be found at www.findinghogwarts.com (link redirects to Twitter page).

If you’re a Harry Potter fan, then you should be really excited about this right…Right?

The people over at The Leaky Cauldron are doing a “documentary” of them running around looking for Hogwart’s, the fictional school in the Harry Potter series.

My favorite line of the YouTube video “trailer” is: “We all started to wonder, what if we tried to find it…together? What if we tried to find…Hogwarts.” Immediately followed by the delusional line, “No one was really 100% sure of what we were going to find.”

This “trailer” brings the LOLs in ways you never thought possible!
