I Re-Love American Idol Now! January 20, 2011

Okay, so it has only been one episode of the 10th season but I have to say I LOVED the show last night. It’s a whole new show!
First, I thought I was going to hate Steven Tyler and J.Lo as judges. Specifically Steven Tyler. After last night’s show, Steven is my favorite one! He’s just the right amount of quirky balanced with professionalism. I would never have expected to find myself liking Steven Tyler in any capacity.
J.Lo was great too. She’s VERY likable, and sweet. I need to remove her from a performer while she’s on this show because I don’t like her music or her performing, but that’s sort of a whole different thing than judging a talent show. So, personality points: J.Lo is a homerun!
Randy…why are you still there? I was bored to tears with everything he said.
Lots of heart-warming, realistic stories in last night’s episode that really made me like the show in a way I’ve never liked it before. Gone are the days of Simon Cowell being a total ass. Gone are the days of them bringing young boys with special needs on to the show for millions of people in America to laugh at. Gone are the days of judges who have no expertise in the field of music.
I hope Idol keeps this up! It’s nice to like this show again for great reasons!

Is it just me or is this the absolute worst group of American Idols we’ve ever heard?!
I typically follow this show from beginning to end every year, but for some reason this year I just wasn’t as in to it from the beginning. Basically, I don’t think anyone is better than David Archuleta, so I have no other reason to watch.
I caught last night’s episode (back and forth from the Olympics) and couldn’t believe how absolutely bad they were.
Though there is one guy who i really think is going to be a star in some way. Andrew Garcia seems to be one step ahead of the game with the guys. I don’t think he’s A WHOLE LOT better than the rest, like I thought Adam Lambert was. But Garcia is good.
I understand it’s just the Top 24, and we have many weeks ahead of us. But, God.
Also, what the hell Kara? Did anyone else notice the BLATANT sexual harassment going on? I mean if you think of it, Kara is in a position of power, and in some ways this guy’s boss.
I’m very against being PC, no matter where, but I have to say I was a bit shocked as she sat there and made all kinds of bizarre comments to a contestant like that.
I didn’t hear the girls this week, but from what I’ve read and been told, they weren’t a whole hell of a lot better either.
Are we ready for this show to just end? I know FOX isn’t, American Idol is still the No.1 show on television regardless of obvious lack of talent.
David Archuleta Releasing “Christmas From the Heart” October 13! October 3, 2009

Get ready to jingle your bells y’all!
David Archuleta’s Christmas album, “Christmas From the Heart” is about to be released on October 13! This is pretty early for a holiday album, but he has a new pop album coming out early next year, so I imagine they wanted to separate the two a bit!
I think the cover is kind of bizarre. He definitely still looks like he’s 10 years old (he’ll be 19 in December), but on his debut album cover they made him look like this buff 25 year old. He kind of looks like one of Santa’s elves on this cover.
I’m most excited for his rendition of “Ave Maria” and my personal favorite Christmas song, “Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas.”
Click here to hear short previews of all of the songs on the album on Amazon.com
Here is a tracklisting of the holiday songs that are going to be on the album! Can’t wait!
1. Joy to the World
2. Angels We Have Heard On High
3. O Come All Ye Faithful
4. Silent Night
5. The First Noel
6. O Holy Night
7. Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas (with Charice Pempengco)
8. I’ll Be Home For Christmas
9. Pat-A-Pan
10. What Child Is This
11. Riu-Riu-Chiu
12. Ave Maria
13. Melodies of Christmas
Victoria Beckham to Replace Paula Abdul on American Idol! August 6, 2009

Well my day definitely started out with a bang this morning.
According to the radio and OK! Magazine, Posh Spice Victoria Beckham has been slated to replace Paula on American Idol.
At first it was reported that she would be replacing her for the whole season, but OK! Magazine says she’s only appearing on 2 episodes. I think Victoria would be a perfect replacement for Paula! Victoria had MASSIVE success with the Spice Girls and even had a few solo hits, and was able to cross over in to America with the Girls which is something that every foreign artist dreams of.
I say if things go well with judged taping (which started either yesterday or today), then keep her on! I can’t wait to see her on the show, and will definitely be tuning in come January. Maybe we’ll se a cameo from David and their boys!
7 Bizarre Billboard 200 Album Facts July 31, 2009

Okay, I used to think the No.1 spot on the Billboard 200 album chart was such a coveted position. Obviously it is for any artist. When I was in elementary school, I used to go to Disc Jockey at the mall in Cumberland and go to the very back of the store to see the Billboard Hot 100 singles chart and the Billboard 200 albums chart. I don’t know why I was so obsessed with it, but I was fascinated by them.
I was browsing today’s Billboard 200 album chart and saw some artists’ peak positions and some stats, that had me blown away! I am actually wondering if there is a glitch on Billboard’s website. Here are some of the ones that had me screaming “no way in hell!” at work:
1. Slipknot’s album “All Hope Is Gone” is currently ranked No.177, has been on the charts for 48 weeks, and has a peak position at No.1!
2. Disturbed, a band I’ve never even heard of, have been on the charts for 66 weeks, and have also peaked at No.1 with the album “Indestructable.”
Check out the stupid album artwork which just looks like someone Googled “Photoshopped Nightmare.” The artwork alone will have rednecks and motorcycle gangs blasting this shit for days.
3. Rick Ross apparently released an album in May which debuted at No.1. What?
4. Daughtry, who I can’t stand and who was one of the runners-up a few seasons ago on American Idol is now 2 for 2 with No.1 albums. Taylor Hicks, who has dropped off the face of the Earth and has no career, won American Idol that year. Apparently Daughtry’s first album was the highest selling album in 2007.
5. Keith Urban is another one of those artists who magically got an album to No.1 even though no one likes his music — a clear flaw in the ranking system.
6. At first, I was never a huge Taylor Swift fan, but she has definitely grown on me. Her albums stats are also ridiculous. Her self-titled debut album is back in the Top 40 and has been on the charts for 144 weeks. Her newest album “Fearless” just continues to break records. I wish I were her age with zillions of dollars!
7. In what may be the most fascinating to me is some girl named Chrisette Michele, whose name sounds like one of the girlfriends from Alvin and the Chipmunks, has an album named “Epiphany” that went to No.1 and has been on the charts for 12 weeks. She’s an R&B artist, and I have never heard of her or any of her music in my life.
I can’t wait to see what other unknown debuts at No.1 or stays on the charts for 900 weeks!
Airto Sings “Heartless” Better Than Kris Allen May 23, 2009

Kris Allen not only annoyed me by getting national exposure for a 3 chord version of “Heartless” but he’s also looks like he’s got jaundice.
At any rate, check out Airto! This guy is from the Netherlands, and isn’t signed, but has one of the best voices that I have ever heard. He would easily have won any season of American Idol (except the one David Archuleta was on, because Archie should have won that.)
Check out Airto singing “Heartless” from back in March. He has a lot of awesome covers so check out his YouTube channel too!

I’ve been talking to a lot of my friends about Susan Boyle. A lot of them seem to think she is absolutely amazing while others don’t think her voice was anything amazing.
I agree it was a huge surprise to hear such an amazing voice, but I am starting to think it wasn’t THAT amazing.
Let me know what you think:

Every Tuesday I get at least 1 text message or IM from someone saying something along the lines of, “OMG you lyk TOTALLY look like Adam Lambert on American Idol!” It seems to be not only my looks, but my mannerisms as well. Hmm…interesting.
It’s not just certain people, it’s family, friends, coworkers, friends of families.
Now a very popular blogger has found my likeness and is using my image to promote her blog. She needs to contact my publicist if she wants to use my face to endorse her business though!
Here’s a screen cap from LoveElizabethany.com
