MTV TJ!
In May 2010, I was selected by MTV to be 1 of 20 candidates to compete for the first ever MTV TJ (Twitter Jockey)!
What the hell does that mean, you ask? Well the MTV TJ was a brand-new face and voice for MTV across social media platforms to expand the two-way dialog between MTV and its global audience.
MTV mined social media networks looking for 20 candidates who were active in social media and have a unique voice and passion for music and pop culture and luckily, I fit the bill!!
The MTV TJ was a modern-day version of the original MTV VJ, but instead of having a one-way dialog in reporting music and pop culture-related news to fans, the MTV TJ used social media as an online conversation with MTV and its audience.
Throughout the summer of 2010 I did several social media-based challenges that would display my expertise in gathering audience persuasion and credibility in hopes that I would be selected by MTV to be one of the lucky top 5. Unfortunately, though I did a great job and was very proud of myself, I wasn’t selected as one of the top 5.
Gabi Gregg eventually won the position, and signed a one year contract for $100,000!
The position is no longer filled, but it was a great way to help me build experience for my various roles as a freelance social media marketer!
