iPhone 4S Coming October 14th, no iPhone 5 In Sight October 4, 2011

Even though I pleaded that there would be an iPhone 5, like many millions of other iPhone users, Apple did their best to make the iPhone 4S seem like a homerun. In reality it’s just a minor upgrade to the already fantastic iPhone 4. Here are some iPhone 4S features:
- 8 megapixel camera with a bunch of technological advances that normal human beings don’t understand.
- 1080p HD recording
- Apple’s A5 duel-core processor, which according to today’s demo, will make monsters melt your eyes better.
- Better connectivity to cell towers
- Siri – voice activated personal assistant (which was an app that I have owned for years. Demo below)
So the question in my head is, why did it take apple 16 months to release the exact same phone with a faster processor and better camera?
In other news:
- iCloud and iOS 5 will be released October 12th.
- iPhone 4S available October 14th in 16, 32, and 64GB models ($199, $299, and $399 respectively).
- 8GB iPhone 4 $99 with contract, 8GB iPhone 3GS free with contract
- iPod nanos now 8 and 16GB ($129 and $149)
- iPod touches now come in black and white.
- Find My Friends feature will let you ping your friends using iCloud, to find out where they are and vice versa.
Kind of a boring, underwhelming event all things considered.
What were your thoughts on today’s announcements?
